Massachusetts Community Development Center (MACDC) (2007-2020)
Mentoring program to develop diverse leaders in the Community Development field in Boston. Mentees are people of color in mid- to senior-level professional positions and mentors are a racially diverse group, including white professionals who are senior leaders in the field. Provided end to end mentoring support including program design, mentoring training, leadership development workshops and program evaluation for the inaugural program and eight subsequent cycles. All training is now online and program orientation adapted to be facilitated virtually. 15 - 25 mentoring pairs per cycle.
Revera Inc. Retirement Living and Long Term Care (2019)
Mentoring program to develop first line staff and managers across Canada. Creation and customization of mentee and mentor online training modules (6 for each) and training booklets. Designed and facilitated day long mentor training to develop mentoring culture in the organization and establish a common context for mentoring.
Barrie Baydogs Triathlon Club, ON (2014-2019) Southeast Storm Triathlon Club, NB (2019)
Custom program for triathlon clubs to entice people into the sport and help them learn the complexities of training and racing. Adapted corporate mentoring model to meet the needs of the triathlete community. Through regular program evaluation and feedback every season, the program evolved to meet the changing and growing needs of the club. All training was provided online with in person orientation meetings. 15-20 mentoring partners per season. Program came to be the major attraction for people to join the club.
Peel District School Board (2014-1016)
Mentoring program designed to develop aspiring racialized leaders. Mentees were teachers and mentors were VP’s and Principal’s. Comprehensive program including design and delivery of initial mentoring partner orientation and quarterly leadership development training sessions. On going program feedback was essential to determine best practices for the school board going forward. Produced a 40 page recommendation report and detailed analysis of participant survey data. 25 mentoring partners for an 18 month program.
Company of Women Mentoring (2017)
Created to meet the needs of newer women entrepreneurs in southern Ontario. Experienced mentor entrepreneurs shared knowledge, resources and networks to support mentees growing their businesses. Complete program design and implementation for 6 mentoring pairs. Combination of online training/networking and in person events. Highly rated by participants.
Boston Public Schools (2007-2008)
Mentoring program and leadership development for principals in the school system. Experienced principals were matched with new or upcoming principals. 30 pairs. Responsible for program design, mentoring partnership training, quarterly check-ins and leadership development workshops for participants as well as program close. Facilitated additional program for school based administrators. 40 pairs.
EMC Corporation (2005 - 2006)
Mentoring program to develop black leaders in the company. The black manager mentees were matched with executive mentors. 20 pairs. Program design, matching, implementation, training, check-ins and program close. This program was part of a larger initiative to develop more diverse leadership in the organization. Conducted my Masters thesis research project in conjunction with this program investigating the factors that influence mentoring across race and gender.
Mentoring program to develop women leaders in sales and customer service in EMC. Women manager mentees were matched with executive mentors. 25 pairs. Consulted on program design, implementation, matching, training, check- ins and program close. Included monthly learning communications for mentoring and leadership development.
Nortel Networks (1999 - 2001)
A global mentoring program for 30 women directors paired with executive mentors. Part of a CEO supported initiative to develop women leaders in the company. Full responsibility from inception through to completion including program design, matching, communication, training, mid-program check-ins, program close and evaluation. Provided three leadership training events for the mentees as an adjunct to the mentoring program. Managed two cycles of this program. Implemented similar program to develop multi racial senior leaders.
